Body of Knowledge™ – Compression: What you Can’t Feel Can Hurt you
Foundational Anatomy and Biomechanics for the Moving Body
Module 3 of 6 | Saturday | $495 Full Series, $95 Single |
Stop running into yourself! Get perspective on possible structural variations of the hip, knee and shoulder joints, and how certain positional goals in the asanas can lead to compression and impingement of soft tissues. Apply foundational understanding of osteokinematics (movement of bones at a joint) and arthrokinematics (movement of bony surfaces inside a joint) to better understand what you are seeing, feeling, doing and cuing in the poses.
The following are modules 1-6 of the first series:
Mar. 25: Hard Tissues: The Bony Fit of Your Skeleton
Mar. 26: Soft Tissues: Mobility, Flexibility and the Science of Stretching
Apr. 22: Compression: What you Can’t Feel Can Hurt you
Apr. 23: Muscle Structure Micro to Macro: Key Muscles of the Lower Extremities
May 22: Muscle Function in Movement: Key Muscles of the Upper Extremities
May 21: Core Rapport: Mobility, Stability and Breath
About the series

The majority of time will be spent applying concepts experientially. Optional home study aids provided.
- Explore anatomical structures and biomechanical concepts through practice and hands-on engagement.
- Develop scientifically-informed critical thinking skills to help you clarify movement cues.
- Position yourself as an anatomically and biomechanically-informed teacher to attract a more diverse student base.
*This series covers and then goes beyond anatomy introduced in yoga teacher training. No anatomy or teaching experience is necessary.
