Body of Knowledge™ – Soft Tissues: Mobility, Flexibility and the Science of Stretching
Foundational Anatomy and Biomechanics for the Moving Body
Module 2 of 6 | Sunday | $495 Full Series, $95 Single |
Explore the key biomechanical concepts of load and tissue adaptation to better understand the ways our body’s tissues change shape and behavior in response to physical activity. Clarify and challenge conventional thinking (which is largely inaccurate!) around stretching to gain a clearer understanding of the difference between joint mobility and soft tissue flexibility.
The following are modules 1-6 of the first series:
Mar. 25: Hard Tissues: The Bony Fit of Your Skeleton
Mar. 26: Soft Tissues: Mobility, Flexibility and the Science of Stretching
Apr. 22: Compression: What you Can’t Feel Can Hurt you
Apr. 23: Muscle Structure Micro to Macro: Key Muscles of the Lower Extremities
May 22: Muscle Function in Movement: Key Muscles of the Upper Extremities
May 21: Core Rapport: Mobility, Stability and Breath
About the series
This dynamic workshop series will empower you with a foundational understanding of key anatomical structures, clarify sophisticated biomechanical concepts, and inspire a life-long fascination to learn more about the human body. The majority of time will be spent applying concepts experientially. Optional home study aids provided.
- Explore anatomical structures and biomechanical concepts through practice and hands-on engagement.
- Develop scientifically-informed critical thinking skills to help you clarify movement cues.
- Position yourself as an anatomically and biomechanically-informed teacher to attract a more diverse student base.
*This series covers and then goes beyond anatomy introduced in yoga teacher training. No anatomy or teaching experience is necessary.
